2. Most Creative Alternative Transportation Outreach - Buffalo First April Community Mixer hosted with Green Options Buffalo and Campus Wheelworks. Campus Wheelworks provided a demonstration on bike repair and maintenance, and Green Options Buffalo introduced Bicycle Benefits, a progressive cycling program designed to reward individuals and businesses for their commitment to cleaner air, personal health and the use of pedaling energy in order to create a more sustainable community.

3. Best Earth Day Outreach by an Organization - Sunnking Electronics Recycling for their for their creative "E-Scrap for Camp" program. During the month of April, Sunnking coordinated with over 50 businesses and organizations to hold employee collection events, and they partnered with Buffalo ReUSE to hold a public collection event. Sunnking recycled all of the collected e-waste free of charge, and then donated $.03 to Camp Good Days and Special Times for every pound of material collected. In addition, Sunnking donated an additional $500 on behalf of the company that recycled the most material. This program provided an easy and convenient way for the community to have a positive impact through recycling. Sunnking goal was to raise at least 100,000 lbs. of material, which would help to enroll 3.5 kids in Camp Good Days activities for an entire year.

4. Best Earth Day Outreach by an Organization - University at Buffalo's SA Environmental for their excellent mix of Earth Week activities at UB. The Student Association was greatly successful in engaging students throughout the campus with events planned and implemented by students, including a bike path clean-up, movie screenings, on-campus demonstrations and speakers, Earth Pong (an environmentally focused game of beer pong), as well as raffles and prizes. The efforts of SA Environmental were exemplary and are a model for other campuses throughout WNY.

5. Best Earth Day Year Round Activities - Dr. Brenda Young, Associate Professor of Biology from Daemen College For several years Dr. Young has compiled the EnviroNews, which became our region's best known resource to learn about upcoming environmental events and programs, as well as other opportunities. In addition to the many hours Dr. Young has invested in the EnviroNews and her responsibilities as a Daemen professor, she is also centrally involved in Daemen's various sustainable efforts including their well-known summits, she serves on the board of directors of Buffalo Audubon Society, she has been a key contributor to the Western New York Environmental Alliance, and she supports MANY other environmental and community pursuits in western New York. Dr. Young's EnviroNews laid the groundwork for the development of the GrowWNY.org website and we hope she will continue to contribute to the dialogue through this new online resource.
