Ed the roaming Earth Day buffalo serves as a mascot for the Buffalo
Niagara Earth Day Celebration and promotes environmental and community events around

Removal of the ice boom signifies spring. Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper begins the
festivities with a ceremonial Ice Boom Ball Drop as mayors and dignitaries from
both sides of the border thrust a red, 7 foot diameter ball over the railing of
the Peace Bridge and watch it gently drift the length of the Niagara River.
